2018 – The Year of Sufficiency

2018 – The Year of Sufficiency

Welcome to 2018! Year of Sufficiency

It is a wonderful privilege to be able to witness a new era, starting today.

Life yesterday was history while today; we have the opportunity for a fresh start on a new page of what will become another history for tomorrow.

As we launch out today into a new year, the question to you my precious reader is, will you be part of those who make history today or live in the history of the past? I pray for today’s experience rather than live in the past glory.

History is made every day by those who seize the moment, it is my prayer for you that in 2018 you will seize the moment and maximise your potentials for the Lord.

To make history, you must know that it takes diligence, consistency, tenacity, endurance and the ability to focus, which is lacking in many of us today. We are in a generation that’s riding on the fast lane and some of us in the Body of Christ are caught up in that fast lane too, wanting things to happen quickly and if there’s any delay, we change course. Beloved there is a saying that “Rome was not built in a day”! It sure takes consistency and persistency, coupled with diligence, endurance and ability to focus. May all these virtues accompany us this year.

Where does Sufficiency fit into this?

The word “sufficiency” means “to be adequate”. To be honest there’s something about us humans believing that we have what it takes to be successful within us. This is true to a degree until we hit crisis emotionally, spiritually or our bodies break down, before we realise there is more to successful life or achieving great things in life or becoming a history maker than our gifts and skills can handle.

The Bible says that “Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God.” (2 Corinthians 3:5 AMP)

We all believe we have what it takes and whatever is lacking, we can fix through external help; only to realise that every help outside of the Counsel of God through His word is irrelevant. Oh please I am not against social, psychological or medical help – all these are important to solve human problems. However, there is a place that is higher than surgery help. When all help fail us, we know that Christ is ALL we need and His word should be priority in our lives to influence us in all our lives.

The Scripture teaches that God Himself “has highly magnified His word above His name.” So in God’s infinite wisdom, He knew that His redeemed children will be tempted to respond to external resources for help, due to power of influence around them or influence within. As good as all these helps may be, even going to the bank for financial help in time of crisis, one thing is sure – that what we need are all wrapped up in the Person of Christ! We can obtain these through His word that we have received, owned and acted upon. The word of God says “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

So precious reader, may Christ be your Sufficiency this year. He alone is more than enough.

Shalom!
